Dove “The Ad Makeover”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/23/dove-the-ad-makeover_n_1446250.html
I absolutely love this! Dove has created a way to help women feel good about themselves. Instead of targeting one’s so-called “flaws” in a negative way, Dove wants to inspire women to flaunt what their momma’s gave ‘em. I love this because I believe everyone is perfect in their own way. If you think positively about yourself, you will feel happier and healthier.
Dove has basically recreated a new social media. This is a place where people can message each other go-to pick-me-up phrases, when they are feeling down or unhappy about themselves. I think this is an fantastic idea! -Go Dove :)
MAC Puts Female Bodybuilder in a Cosmetics Ad

Fashion and beauty are two markets that interests me. Companies within those markets are extremely competitive, always fighting and pushing to be on top. I found these two articles very exciting to read. MAC, one the top cosmetics in the world, has started this fresh new advertising campaign. They brought in your not-so-average model, and dressed her up to promote their new collection called “Strength”. I think this a perfect way to incorporate the beauty of external strength along with inner strength. It seems like MAC has created a new modeling concept, which will certainly attract a more wide range of customers. Also, maybe it will inspire women around the world to stay healthy and fit. Being tall and thin, like most models out there, is not the only way to feel sexy and beautiful :)
Keds Enlists Taylor Swift to Transmit Girl Power
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/24/business/media/keds-campaign-features-taylor-swift.html?_r=0
I love reading about the new fashion campaigns and who is the new face for a certain company. The icon behind a certain product or service is a huge factory in whether it will be successful or not. Keds brand new campaign idea of using Taylor Swift as their spokes person will help their company climb back up to the top. Taylor Swift is a well-known country superstar. She will more then likely attract tons of customers. Those girls out there who are obsessed with what the celebrities are wearing, in this case Taylor Swift, will definitely start wearing Keds shoes.
Along with Taylor Swift’s iconic role, Keds has come up with an extra piece to add, “Bravehearts”. I am in love with slogan and story behind it. Keds wants to inspire all girls to be brave and follow your dreams.
The Spot: Mayhem Forever
http://www.adweek.com/news/advertising-branding/spot-mayhem-forever-146681
Allstate’s advertising campaign is definitely one of a kind. The first time i watched a Mayhem commercial, I laughed so hard my stomach hurt! The commercials show serious life situations, but tones the seriousness down with dry humor. Allstate’s message to all the drivers out in the world, “An Allstate agent can protect you from Mayhem, Are you in Good Hands?”
Allstate competes with two other great car insurance companies. Progressive’s campaign is the infamous “Flo”, and StateFarm has the “good neighbor service” campaign. I believe the one thing Allstate and Progressive have over StateFarm is the iconic spokes person. But then again, as easy as it is to easily recognize a person, StateFarm has a great slogan/”jingle” (just like Nike’s “Just do it”). Allstate tops it off with having both an icon and a slogan. I believe their Mayhem campaign is a great way to grasp customer’s attention.
Can Redbox Standout In Streaming?
http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-01-17/can-redbox-stand-out-in-streaming
I just read this article on Bloomberg BusinessWeek. The picture shows a man using Verizon’s product/service “Redbox” machine. When Redbox came out, it was a fast, fun and inexpensive new way to watch newly released movies. I know from experience, I have found these RedBox kiosks to be very convenient. Verizon is now taking the next step and expanding their RedBox invention to the world wide web. Even though they are competing with many huge companies, such as Netflix and Amazon, I believe they have a chance to be successful. Most people, like myself, are looking for the best/cheapest shopping option. The idea of spending only a few dollars a month for newly released movies, is a great one. Verizon is the provider for FiosTv. A lot of people do not have Fios. They either do not pay for cable or pay for another provider. I believe that Verizon is trying to target those non-Verizon customers. RedBox’s instant movies could be a significant new concept for movie watchers.
Has Apple Lost Its Cool to Samsung?

This article caught my eye almost instantly. I wanted to know what all the talk was about Apple “losing its cool”. After reading this, I watched Samsung’s Galaxy S3 commercial. The commercial definitely compliments the article. Samsung wants to show the world that waiting in an endless line for the new Iphone 5 is a waste of time. I like how they did not even have to mention “Apple” or the “Iphone”, the audience automatically knew exactly who they were talking about.
As an Apple product consumer for the past 4 years of my life, I have not been able to switch brand names. I have been comfortable with Apple. Although, recently Apple has come out with the new Iphone 5, which i have no desire to buy because of the new adaptor. Personally I love working with technology and learning new things. One day i might possibly get bored with my Iphone 4s, and will want to change to a new product. After watching all the ads for Samsung’s new product line, it has me thinking about switching carriers.
Since Steve Jobs has passed away, I believe that Apple has not been on their game. This Samsung commercial has been topping all other brands, especially Apple! What some of my friends and I were talking about the other day was, Apple needs to either find and hire someone to take the place of Steve Jobs, or even start a new creative innovative team. An exciting, new and original product will attract all of their customers back.
